Favorite mustard building

This seemed quintessential Venice to me, the worn paint, arched windows, flower boxes. I could imagine having an entire wall in my house with this on it (and wanting to walk thru the door to another world).

Sante Maria della Salute is the church on the left. This pointed land mass is the dividing point where the Canale di San Marco divides into two canals, the Canal Grande to the right and the Canale della Giudecca to the left. To the left is where the cruise ships go. It's too narrow to go up the Canal Grande. I like this big water viewpoint.

Before I went to Venice I thought photos of clothing hanging between buildings was so charming and wanted to find 'that area' when I visited. Well, this small strada (street) may have more than most, but the fact is most people don't have dryers so they have pulleys from one building to another! I also like this picture b/c of the well in the center, used often for washing hands on the way home, rinsing off a bicycle, their version of a hose in some instances!

I like this photo b/c it depicts how the locals live, where they park, how close they are to each other, plus the varied colors of the buildings!

Bridge intersection - the only one I saw

It's about the bridges, that's one thought I got out of navigating Venice. You can walk quite a distance to get across the canal. This picture shows the only bridge intersection I saw in 12 days of walking all over the city. It was a neat surprise.

Vaporetto - water bus - helpful signage!

Without land, buildings are used to post signage. Knowing the surest way to get across the canal by boat, the al vaporetto sign, was wonderful.

One Calle away from Ca'Doro, the closest vaporetto stop. Lots of couples ended up sitting on this dock in the middle of everything (boats going by), took many pictures for them.
